Meet Ariella Dagi, MD

Psychiatrist

Ariella is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist with a warm, candid and collaborative approach. A physician rooted in advanced training across a spectrum of psychoanalytic and cognitive behavioral psychotherapies in addition to psychopharmacology, she offers integrative treatments tailored to the individual. She has expertise in the treatment of mood disorders such as depression, anxiety disorders including generalized anxiety, panic, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, and issues pertaining to relationships, self-perception, life transitions, and loss.

Ariella works closely with individuals to help them live healthier, more meaningful, and more fulfilling lives guided by their values and goals. Together with her patients, she seeks to clarify the nature of their difficulties and concerns, help them achieve a greater understanding of themselves, and develop new perspectives and skills to improve and enjoy their lives. For those for whom medication is indicated, Ariella is highly attuned to each patient’s psychological and biological responses and uses a shared decision-making model to find treatments that optimize benefits while minimizing potential side effects.

Ariella earned her undergraduate degree from Harvard University summa cum laude in Visual and Environmental Studies and completed a thesis in the fine arts. Prior to studying medicine, she worked on healthcare equity and access with the Clinton Health Access Initiative and later as a Lecturer at the Sloan School of Management of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She has worked in both the public and private sectors.

After earning her M.D. at Emory University, she pursued psychiatric residency at Weill Cornell Medical Center. She also completed psychoanalytic fellowships at Columbia University’s Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research as well as at the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. Additionally, she has pursued intensive training in a variety of cognitive behavioral therapies and in the use of expressive psychotherapy techniques. She has presented and published articles and book chapters on topics relating to psychiatric care for specialized populations and medical education.
