Shira Lee Silver, LCSW-R
Shira Lee believes that there is no one-size-fits-all therapeutic approach and therefore works with her clients to find the approach that best suits his/her needs to help the client achieve success.
Shira Lee earned a master’s degree from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and a B.A. in Psychology from Columbia University. Since graduating social work school, she has worked in clinical settings providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families. Shira Lee aims to create a warm and supportive therapy environment where clients feel understood and validated. She has worked with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, family issues, grief and bereavement, substance abuse, trauma, and career challenges. She works from a strength-based, relational, and psychodynamic perspective.
Shira Lee is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Functional Family Therapy (FFT). She also incorporates elements of mindfulness and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) into her work. She believes that there is no one-size-fits-all therapeutic approach and therefore works with her clients to find the approach that best suits his/her needs to help the client achieve success. She also believes that the therapeutic alliance, the bond and trust between client and therapist, is at the crux of achieving positive change.
Shira Lee also has experience facilitating group psychotherapy. As she is particularly interested in the interconnectedness of mind and body, she has led a Self-Care & Wellness group. Additionally, she has facilitated a Coping with Loss group designed for those learning to cope with grief, loss, and bereavement.
“It’s always productive, this last one, and the ones before. Ever since I have been meeting w/ Shira Lee, it’s been about 3 yrs, I have been able to see things differently. She gives me advice and tools that make my coping arsenal much better. I also love the fact that she listens very attentively.”
“I love my visits with Shira Lee. I find that I learn a lot about myself and my emotions that I would not have if we did not speak. She is extremely professional and accommodating which I respect a lot. As a young adult, I feel like Shira Lee is able to relate to me and understand my generation.”
“I love my therapist, she is amazing unlike my last one. She listens as well as give great feedback. It’s like talking to a friend; you won’t even notice she’s a stranger. I was always nervous about going back to therapy since my first time sucked but she’s very kind and welcoming.”
