Melissa is an enthusiastic clinician who cares deeply about human flourishing. She is trained extensively in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and offers her clients a behaviorally focused approach intended to clarify and cultivate the elements of a meaningful life.

Her style is active and engaged, and she invites clients to take real steps in the direction of who they want to be. Melissa puts an emphasis on mindfulness and pays close attention to the experiences that occur during each session, while also recognizing the importance of practical ideas for change and growth outside the office. Melissa has expertise in the treatment of eating disorders and also works with a variety of other concerns, including anxiety, depression, and patterns of maladaptive coping.

In addition to her practice at TMP, Melissa works at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where she is an Advanced Clinician for the social work department. She has developed innovative group programing to bring ACT into the hospital setting and is engaged in research to better understand the impact and value of this therapeutic approach.

Melissa earned her earned her BA from The Colorado College, where she graduated magna cum laude and with distinction. She earned a master’s in clinical social work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College.
